I am a first-generation college student interested in diversifying the university setting. Being biracial and queer, I recognize the need for representation in the STEM field. I would like to see role models in higher education that provide mentorship for like-minded students. Hence why I plan to become a professor myself. I specifically am interested in the identity of transfer students. Being a transfer student for 20 years myself I understand the lived experience of students that navigate the educational pipeline. I currently am applying to PhD institutions while participating in three different labs. More specifically, I am working on my thesis under Dr. Stefanie Drew and her Visual Information Systems and Neuroscience lab. My work on a virtual reality testing anxiety intervention will combine my knowledge of student accommodations, meditation, and stress in the educational setting. I am currently a master’s students in the psychological sciences program, while teaching introductory psychology, research methods, and helping out with the Badge Project!
