Hello there, I’m Drestine! I’m currently a senior majoring in Communication Disorders and Sciences with an emphasis on Speech-Language Pathology! I’m a proud Filipino-American who’s lived in SoCal for my entire life. I am currently a research assistant for Orange Lab, as well as the Chair of Advertisement and Graphic Design for CSUN NSSHLA (National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association)! Badge has taught me a lot as a member, and now as a mentor, I want to help other transfer students as well. I can’t wait to meet you all!
Hi everyone, my name is Ghana [gah-nuh]. I am a senior, and my field is kinesiology, with an option in physical education. Also, I am a member of the Physical Education Club. After I receive my bachelor's degree, I want to pursue working with grades K-6 in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
I look forward to being your Badge Peer Mentor and thank you for including me in your journey.
Hello! My name is Khanh Tran, but I also go by Karley. I am a Vietnamese immigrant and an undergrad senior majoring in Communication Disorders. I have been working in the Speech and Language Science Lab under Dr. Vickie Yu, where I found my passion for research in Bilingualism and Neurogenic Communication Disorders. I also serve as a tutor and Secretary for the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) - CSUN chapter. I love going swimming, drinking coffee, reading nonfiction, and bouldering. Having been a transfer student and an immigrant, I understand how it feels to continue the academic journey in a completely different environment, so please feel free to hit me up when you need help or when you just need someone to chat with. You are not alone!"
Hello! I'm Marissa Ackerman, a CSUN senior majoring in Applied Mathematics, minoring in Physics. I'm a Los Angeles transplant, originally from Peoria, AZ. I transferred from West Los Angeles College in the spring of 2023, and am excited to be a mentor for the Badge Project. I know how difficult it can be during that first semester, so let's figure it out together. I'm looking forward to helping you accomplish your academic and personal goals during your time here at CSUN.
