Getting Involved at the HERE Center as a Faculty Member

CSUN Faculty members are integral to our center’s mission of advancing health equity through research, education, and community partnerships. Depending on your interests and preferred level of commitment, you can choose to apply and become a HERE Center Faculty Affiliate or Faculty Researcher.

Becoming a Faculty Researcher:

As a HERE Center Faculty Researcher, you will have access to a range of benefits and opportunities to collaborate with fellow faculty members, community partners, and students in addressing health disparities and promoting equity in health outcomes.

Why Become a HERE Center Faculty Researcher:

Eligible to apply annually for the HERE Center’s Medtronic Supplemental Funding and Travel Fund.

  • Eligible to apply annually for the HERE Center’s Medtronic Supplemental Funding and Travel Fund.
  • Gain visibility via the HERE Center website, including the dissemination of your research biography.
  • Networking opportunities with HERE Center faculty and community collaborators, fostering mentor-mentee relationships and grant collaborations.
  • Access to HERE interns vetted by the center.
  • Eligible to apply for a leadership position at the HERE Center, recognized as University Level service.
  • Option to join the Internal Advisory Board (IAB), contributing to center decision-making.
  • Receive an annual Letter of Acknowledgement.

Eligibility:

  • Research agenda aligned with the HERE Center’s mission and vision.
  • Must have served as a HERE Center Affiliate for at least one year.
  • Have an externally funded research agenda and serve as a PI or Co-PI.
  • Open to tenured, tenure-track, FERP, and lecturer faculty at CSUN.

Responsibilities as a HERE Center Faculty Researcher:

  • Commit to community-partnered participatory or community-based research.

  • Conduct workshops or talks on funded research projects for HERE Center students.
  • Credit the HERE Center in all related publications.
  • Complete an annual questionnaire on HERE Center-related research and activities.

Becoming a Faculty Affiliate:

A HERE Center Faculty Affiliate is a CSUN faculty who has either collaborated on at least one of the grants/research projects with one of the current and/or previous HERE Center Researchers (HERE Center leadership included) or attended the HERE Center Ethics Training. If you think you already meet one of the eligibilities mentioned here, please fill out the application to express your interest in continuing as a HERE Center Faculty Affiliate.
We welcome faculty from all disciplines who are interested in joining our Faculty Affiliate community for the first time. Please fill out the application to get started.

Why Become a HERE Center Faculty Affiliate:

  • Eligible to apply and be awarded once for the HERE Center’s Medtronic Supplemental Funding and Travel Fund.

  • Increased visibility via the HERE center website (e.g., research biography and dissemination of your research to be included on the HERE center website).
  • Networking opportunities with HERE Center faculty and community collaborators, which may result in:
    • mentor-mentee relationships,
    • grant collaborations which leverage HERE Center infrastructure
  • Eligible to apply and become a HERE Center Researcher after one year of being our Faculty Affiliate. Learn more about the benefits and eligibility of becoming a HERE Center Researcher here [link to be included later].

  • Receive a one-time grant application review by one or more of the HERE Center Researchers.

Eligibility:

  • Research agenda aligned with the HERE Center’s mission and vision.
  • Open to tenured, tenure-track, FERP, and lecturer faculty at CSUN.

Responsibilities as a HERE Center Faculty Researcher:

  • Commit to community-partnered participatory or community-based research.
  • Be willing to provide a workshop/talk about your research project to the HERE Center students if you are awarded with either the Medtronic Supplemental Funding or the Travel Fund.
