Certificate Programs in Radiologic Sciences

Certificates in Advanced Imaging for Medical Imaging Professionals

The profession of Radiologic Sciences (Medical Imaging) is changing as new technology emerges. This is especially true as health care reform continues to make new demands for multi-competent employees. Advanced imaging is something that lends itself to the arena of the multi-competent medical imager practitioner.

Other than the California State University, Northridge programs, there are no other certificate programs in place within the California State University system for advanced imaging education for the returning professional in Radiologic Sciences. These courses also count toward a baccalaureate degree, thereby creating a career path through the Health Science Department's Radiologic Sciences program at CSUN.

In order to provide continuing education for returning licensed Radiologic Sciences professionals (i.e., Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Radiologic Technologists (AA, RTs), and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)) at the university level, while advancing Radiologic Sciences imaging education and promoting excellence in the health care environment, the RS Program is grouping areas of its course work into specialty certificate programs. This provides advanced academic coursework and advanced level clinical skills to the returning imaging professional in the following areas:

All course work is currently being offered in the RS program within the Department of Health Sciences. Students may enroll in these courses after meeting the prerequisites and admission criteria to a specific certificate program through Open University.

Clinical Internships

The following medical centers have affiliation contracts with the Department of Health Sciences for the specific purpose of providing clinical internships in radiology to students that meet both CSUN and the medical center's criteria for placement:
