Ethnic Studies Education Pathways Project Student Coordinators

Purpose of the project/position
With funding from the CSUN Diversity & Equity Innovation Grant, the Ethnic Studies Education Pathways Project (ESEPP) is a university initiative that connects students with Ethnic Studies educators, programming, and pedagogy. ESEPP students will participate in workshops, seminars, and professional development sessions along with being assigned a mentor in their related career of interest. Required programming for ESEPP will occur on Mondays on the following dates: Feb 7, Mar 7, Apr 4, and May 9. This project seeks two student coordinators to assist with furthering project goals to support highly-prepared Ethnic Studies and justice-oriented educators.

Job description
● Be proficient with Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace; Will be trained on Canvas learning platform
● Assist with paperwork related to budget, resource allocation, and payments
● Track and assess programmatic outcomes related to mentee and mentor involvement
● Facilitate efficient communication and scheduling between mentors and mentees
● Assist with external and internal communication, including social media management
● Maintain consistent communication with the project team to share ideas, challenges, and align with stakeholders
● Perform other duties to assist ESEPP faculty coordinators achieve program goals, including but not limited to research-related activities

Requirements/Qualifications
All CSUN students are eligible to apply, within the guidelines mentioned below:
● Knowledge and understanding of ethnic studies, social work, deaf studies, and/or education
● Be an undergraduate enrolled in at least 6 units or a graduate student enrolled in at least 4 units of graduate-level coursework
● Strong project management and organizational skills
● Strong writing, timely communication, and creative skills
● Familiarity with popular social media platforms and graphic/web design
● Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas and work independently
● Ability to work well with others and to mediate when issues arise between members
● Maintain a positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach

Hourly pay
$18.00/hourly—Students with pre-existing campus employment can work up to 20hrs/week in total, during academic weeks.

Hours
10 hours/week for 16 weeks over Spring 2022 semester and possible additional work until June 30th, 2022. Majority of work will be done remotely.
