Self-Care Week of 6/1/20

June 1, 2020

Dear MDECOE community,

Just when we thought things could not get worse, the world turned upside down this week. Self-care can mean many things, but it absolutely means practicing equity, access, inclusion, and social justice for ourselves and championing these rights for everyone else in this world. The mission of the College of Education and the ethical and professional standards of all of our educational programs embrace these values as essential for the well-being of our students and the community that we serve. As faculty and staff, we promote these basic rights for ourselves and others, and encourage our students to do the same as they go forward in their profession. One of the best ways to engage in self-care is engaging in acts that change the world for the better. Let’s change the world together. Please enjoy this inspiring music and a great presentation by Sydney Chaffee, 2017 National Teacher of the Year.

As a college that engages in self-care, we are committed to standing together for social justice for all.

In solidarity,

Shari and Josh
