Dear College of Education Community,
Spring is a great time to think of how we can be mindful about renewing our commitment to taking good care of ourselves and creating a welcoming environment that fosters a sense of belongingness in our everyday living spaces. Similar to Scandinavian terms like hygge and colsie, "Koselig is a Norwegian word that describes a feeling of warmth, coziness, and contentment that arises from enjoying simple pleasures in life…It is not just about physical comfort, but also about creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging and happiness. In essence, it's about finding joy in the ordinary moments of life and savoring them fully." The Nordic concept of koselig focuses on creating a welcoming atmosphere, bringing nature into living spaces as well as spending time outside in the beauty of spring, creating time with family and friends, and making space in life for relaxation.
