Four COE Self-Care Activity Extras

December 14, 2016

Over the winter break, you may want to consider trying out one or more of the following self-care activities:  participating in Audubon’s 117th Christmas Bird Count, planting CA native plants, walking local trails, and reading positive news.

  1. Audubon's 117th Christmas Bird Count will take place from Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 through Thursday, January 5th, 2017. You don't have to be an expert birdwatcher to participate in this fun self-care activity. Learn more at Audubon.
  2. If you find gardening a good way to relax and relieve stress, now is traditionally the best time of year to plant most CA native plants. For more information, check out the Theodore Payne Winter Garden Guide and the California Native Plant Society.
  3. For those who would like to move around even more, there are some wonderful local walking trails on which to exercise while viewing the sights and hearing the sounds of nature. Check out Southern California Walks for maps, photos, and information on everything from short, easy walks, to moderate walks, to longer, more difficult walks which include more hills.
  4. Finally some good news! Switch your go-to news site to Positive.News and begin each day with inspiring, uplifting news stories from your neighborhood and around the world.

Happy Holidays!
