COE Self-Care Activities Week Two

September 11, 2015

Hi COE staff and faculty,

Our first week of self-care this fall semester went well with a great presentation on nutrition wisdom and healthy eating by Ellen Bauersfeld. She'll be back three more times this semester and you can check out these dates on the COE Self-care website. She'll be covering such topics as "keeping off the weight as we age gracefully," "calcium and you," and "special diets for self-care people" in future presentations. And, she's always open to discussing any topics that participants want to ask about.

Next week will be a return to some of our previous fun self-care activities with some new twists! Come check out a terrific JOURNEY INTO MINDFULNESS presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 15th, from 12-1 in Ed 1214 with Diane Gehart. As an expert on mindfulness who has written numerous articles and books on the topic, Diane will start this self-care activity by sharing an overview of the practice of mindfulness in this first session. She will also be organizing a weekly mindfulness practice in the COE based on the schedules of those who are interested. This is your chance to experience the many relaxing and rejuvenating benefits of this terrific self-care activity.

Also, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 16th at noon, and then weekly every Wednesday this semester, Maria King will be leading a wonderful WALKING THE PATH tour of campus between 12-1. This should be relaxing and yet get the body moving without sweating, all good! Maria has been an avid walker all her life and has some gems of wisdom to share!  Meet in the EPC Dept. office for this great self-care activity.

Here’s to a wonderful semester of self-care for each of you.

Warmly,

Shari
