Dear MDECOE community,
We made it to the end of this most challenging spring semester! During this ongoing crisis, we have definitely lost some important things in life. But what have we gained?
We discovered that we can survive and overcome unimaginable challenges.
We learned a new way to connect fulltime with students, faculty, and staff without face to face contact.
Many of us learned for the first time how to engage in coursework and college activities through virtual modalities.
We found out what it’s like to work full time from home, and not spend hours driving, sitting in uncomfortable chairs, and eating, if at all, at our desks while starring at a computer.
We spent more time with family and friends, virtually, if not in person, and did less rushing around.
We felt gratitude for the freedom that we once had now that we have temporarily lost it.
And we renewed our gratitude for what we still have and what matters most, our lives and our relationships with others.
And hopefully, we understood more than ever why we need to take care of ourselves so we can take care of one another.
For this final reason, we will continue our virtual self-care program throughout the summer!
For other resources to support you during the coronavirus, and find ways to support others, please continue to look at our self-care website at https://www.csun.edu/eisner-education/self-care/articles-information-self-care
As we move forward and confront new challenges, please look for the silver lining in these pandemic clouds.
Continue to take care of yourselves.
We will get through this together.
Warmly,
Shari and Josh
