COE Self-Care Activities Spring 2020 - Week 12

April 6, 2020

Greetings MDECOE community,

I continue to feel abundantly grateful for the amazing work that you all are doing in this time of crisis and uncertainty. I am also grateful to the self-care providers at CSUN who have come together as a community to share resources in support of all of us staying healthy and well.  These colleagues are offering great information and activities on mindfulness, nutrition, sustainability, workshops on wellbeing, reading, yoga, and opportunities to stay socially engaged with others. There even is a downloadable, printable stress-relieving coloring book available! https://www.plumdeluxe.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/PlumDeluxeTeaColoringBook-1.pdf  Please check out the following:

  1. The CSUN Office of Community Engagement is offering virtual mindfulness sessions, gardening, academic book club, yoga and other virtual events. And if you’d like to increase your virtual social connections, you can join the “Coffee with Colleagues” on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00pm. https://www.csun.edu/undergraduate-studies/community-engagement/connect-community
  1. The Institute for Community Health and Well-Being is offering wellness workshops on Wednesdays on 12:00-1:00pm. One example is the Hand and Wrist Stretching Workshop. As staff and faculty are stuck at home who are working on computers for longer periods of time, Leslie McAllister of Yoga Music Studio shares some stretches for the hands and wrists in her Wellness Wednesday video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=pm9TOx5gqAw&feature=youtu.be

The first “Spice Up Your Life Wellness Cooking Series” is entitled “Meals from the Pantry” and is on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Join in this virtual culinary workshop in which MMC Staff will discuss easy meals you can make from shelf-stable ingredients. https://www.csun.edu/marilyn-magaram-center
