Dr. Dominic Grasso is joining the Department of Elementary Education as an assistant professor! Dr. Grasso's research areas include literacy and reading teacher education, the use of literacy as a tool for social justice, and inclusive teacher education with special emphasis on anti-racist teacher education and LGBTQ inclusive curricular and literacy practices. Prior to joining CSUN, Dr. Grasso worked in a variety of educational settings, including as an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University, as well as a literacy curriculum specialist for The School District of Palm Beach County. Prior to his role as a curriculum specialist, Dr. Grasso was the co-author of a multi-million dollar grant from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to provide professional development for teachers in Broward County Public Schools focusing on safe and supportive classroom environments, and inclusive sexual health education. Dr. Grasso has presented at local and national conferences including The Stonewall National Education Project, Welcoming Schools: A Project of the Human Right's Campaign, and All Together Now: Ensuring Safe and Supportive Enivornment's for LGBTQ Students Across Florida Schools.
