Reading & Literacy Certificate Has Success Over the Summer

This past summer, as part of the Ballmer grant, 51 LAUSD primary grade teachers successfully earned a CSUN Reading & Literacy Certificate by taking 3 summer courses in the Elementary Education Department. The intense summer program included tutoring of 35 elementary school students from the community through the L.A. Times Literacy Center, one of the centers in the Teaching, Learning, and Counseling Consortium.  Forty-two teachers will continue this fall and earn their CTC Reading & Literacy Added Authorization. We expect over 100 teachers to participate in the program next summer.
