We are proud that the Michael D. Eisner College of Education remains one of the largest Colleges of Education in the CSU system, providing to our surrounding communities hundreds of outstanding new professionals in the fields of education, counseling, administration, and Deaf Studies. The Eisner College engages in transformative education and initiatives that put into practice our commitment to social justice, equity, access, and inclusion, and supporting the social-emotional well-being of university, school, and community members. I am grateful to our talented faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners, all instrumental in ensuring the excellence of our educational programs and community-serving centers. LAUSD Teachers Earn Reading & Literacy Certificates at CSUN

This past summer, as part of a Ballmer grant, 51 LAUSD primary grade teachers successfully earned a CSUN Reading & Literacy Certificate by taking 3 summer courses in the Elementary Education Department. The intense summer program included tutoring of 35 elementary school students from the community through the L.A. Times Literacy Center, one of the centers in the Teaching, Learning, and Counseling Consortium. Forty-two teachers will continue this fall and earn their CTC Reading & Literacy Added Authorization. We expect over 100 teachers to participate in the program next summer. Read more

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Tina Torres, who will be leaving CSUN to pursue a career opportunity at Sacramento State University. Tina has been appointed Director of the Sacramento State K16 Project to cultivate regional economies, strengthen education-to-career pathways, and ensure that education, vocational, and workforce programs work together to provide broader access to education and employment opportunities.
