Recognize a colleague or colleagues who exhibit the Matador Spirit and help elevate CSUN - Make a Nomination Today!
The 52nd Annual Staff Service and Recognition of Excellence Awards Event which will take place Wednesday, May 2, 2018, provides us the opportunity, through the Recognition of Excellence Awards, to recognize both staff members and teams for outstanding efforts made over the course of the calendar year. Those awards are the:
- Presidential Award
- Award of Merit
- Alumni Award
- Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award
- CSUN Leadership Award
- Jolene Koester Team Award, and the
- CSUN Student Assistant of the Year Award (New This Year!)

Matador Athletics Faculty & Staff Appreciation Series– Men’s Volleyball vs Long Beach State | March 2
Friday, March 2, 2018 - 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. @ The Matadome
The Spring 2018 Faculty & Staff Series includes six home events on campus. For attending five of the six designated games, participants will receive a CSUN Under Armour Pull-over or sweatshirt. CSUN Faculty and Staff members will receive complimentary admission to each game and are invited to bring up to three additional guests.
All CSUN Faculty and Staff members are eligible to participate by checking in at each game using their CSUN ID. The Athletics Department will have a separate check-in area for participants at each venue in order to track attendance. Premium giveaway items may also be made available for each game, as applicable, at the Faculty & Staff Series check-in table.

Celebrate Pi Day with Pie and WISE | March 13
The Oviatt Library and the Bonita J. Campbell Endowment for Women in Science and Engineering cordially invite you to join us as we celebrate Pi Day!
Join us for our Pi Day Celebration where you will have the opportunity to do hands-on pi (and pie) themed activities, watch as CSUN Clubs show off some of their work, and network with students, staff, faculty, local educators, and STEM professionals. The networking portion of the event will be composed of activities, presentations, and appetizers. Stop by for a few minutes or a few hours.

15th Annual Take Back the Night | March 29
Take Back the Night is a rally and march to end violence against women. Meet us at the Plaza del Sol at 6 p.m. for live music, speakers, spoken word, poster making, the Clothesline Project and a resource fair. Following the rally, around 7:30 p.m., we'll light candles and march back the Women's Research & Resource Center where we will come together as a community to share our stories.

Encourage Students to Participate in the Matador Moments Portfolium Challenge | Due March 30
CSUN invites ALL students to participate in the “Matador Moments: Freshman Challenge." We know that the first year of college is memorable - so use that memory to make a difference in the lives of our incoming freshman class and future generations of Matadors. Inspire an incoming Matador to discover a CSUN connection by telling your story about an experience during your first year that contributed to your success.
The best shared Matador experience will be awarded a $100 CSUN Bookstore gift card and will be celebrated at the annual Student Involvement Awards Ceremony on April 24th, 2018. The top five winning entries will be featured at next year’s (2018) New Student Orientation.

7th Annual Terry Piper Lecture, Featuring Dr. Vasti Torres | Save The Date - April 2
Dr. Vasti Torres, a distinguished scholar and leader within higher education, has been selected as this year’s Terry Piper Lecture Series Keynote Speaker.
Dr. Torres is a professor in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (CSHPE) and an associate faculty member of Latina/o Studies at University of Michigan. Her research focuses broadly on the success of underrepresented students in higher education. She is known for her work on how the identity development of Latinx students can influence their college experience. She has been the Principle Investigator for several grants including a multi-year grant investigating the choice to stay in college for Latino students as well as a multi-year grant looking at the experiences of working college students.
