COVID-19/Coronavirus Update: March 9, 2020, 5 p.m.

CSUN leadership and the university’s emergency operations team have been meeting daily to monitor and plan for COVID-19/Coronavirus and the safety of the campus community. This extensive work is in alignment with the direction of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH). There are no confirmed COVID-19 cases at CSUN. LADPH has stated there is no immediate threat to the general public, and Los Angeles County residents, students, workers and visitors may engage in typical activities, following recommended public health hygiene. The CSUN community can find more information about COVID-19 campus updates, planning, preparedness and prevention at https://www.csun.edu/COVID-19. CSUN President Dianne F. Harrison also shared a message with the campus community on how CSUN Continues Preparation, Planning for COVID-19/Coronavirus.

COVID-19/Coronavirus Update: March 6, 2020, 10:00 p.m.

CSUN has learned that a group of students recently attended a conference of more than 18,000 where two non-CSUN-affiliated attendees from New York have tested positive for COVID-19/coronavirus. The CSUN attendees have been advised to self-monitor their health and report to their health care provider if they exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19, which includes fever, cough and shortness of breath. Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is not recommending any change in status for the university at this time, and there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection connected to any CSUN students, faculty or staff. The CSUN community can find more information about COVID-19 campus planning, preparedness and prevention at https://www.csun.edu/COVID-19.

COVID-19 Campus Planning, Preparedness and Prevention updated March 4, 2020 5 p.m.

CSUN recognizes that recent announcements about the State of California and Los Angeles County declaring a state of emergency due to COVID-19/novel coronavirus may create uncertainty and anxiety in our campus community. While the university remains open and fully functional, the health and safety of the campus community remains our top priority. However, out of an abundance of caution, CSUN is activating its emergency operations center to manage and respond to any emergency needs of the campus community. At this time, there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 infection connected to any CSUN students, faculty or staff. While campus leadership and pandemic planning committee have been meeting regularly, activation enables the university to connect into regional planning and access resources if necessary.

This page provides information about COVID-19, as well as planning and precautions that are being taken by the university and prevention measures you can take to protect your personal health.

As this is an evolving situation, CSUN is closely monitoring reports and advisories from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding the outbreak.

This page is not intended to be all-encompassing and should not be considered to be providing medical or legal advice. In all instances, you should consult with a relevant expert for guidance specific to your circumstances.
