In this session, we will explore the intersection of equity and accessibility within Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) design. Our journey was guided by the POUR principles—Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust—as outlined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. We delved into strategies for intentionally designing equitable learning experiences, ensuring that all students have equal access to educational resources and opportunities. Through real-world examples and practical insights, we learned how to implement these principles to create an inclusive digital learning environment within Canvas LMS, ultimately fostering a more equitable and accessible educational landscape.
