Auditing Tools and Techniques to Improve Your Workflow

Date & Time
Tuesday, March 14, 2023 - 2:20 PM PST
Location
Platinum 5 (VISPERO)
Description
This session will cover a range of tips, techniques and tools that anyone involved in accessibility audits can benefit from. For the most part, these will be scripts that anyone can run on any platform and in a range of browsers, but some of the session will cover some Mac-specific techniques (but which could be implemented using equivalent Windows software). * Running scripts in DevTools including Snippets and using Live Expressions * A quick look at some of the existing client-side tools to set scene for what they do and do not do * Exploring some interesting bookmarklets that you won't find in these Enterprise tools (some my own creation, others that I find useful) * Taming Xpaths: understand how to better use them, create them or decipher them (if you deal with auditing tools, this may be a particular bugbear) * De-mystifying terrible markup: some tips on how to understand how pages are built, knowing what to discard/ignore when diagnosing issues or providing solutions * Taking bookmarklets to next level: integrating hardware (keyboards, MIDI controllers, StreamDeck) as controller devices
