Hackathons that centralize disability inclusion and leadership are tremendous opportunities to build accessibility and disability awareness while spurring innovation, building team camaraderie, and solving real customer problems. Amazon's Device Accessibility team has organized companywide accessibility hackathons annually for the past five years . Each year, the event has substantially grown and we have learned many lessons, including how to foster and support meaningful disability participation. In this session, we will share how to creatively and effectively organize your own accessibility hackathon with practical tips on the rules, roles, and responsibilities. This includes checks and balances to ensure projects are delivering meaningful solutions for your customers with disabilities. Additionally, we will share how participants can create a hackathon project, with tips on how to find innovative ideas, develop a prototype, and create an accessible presentation.
