As diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is prioritized by organizations, what is the connection with accessibility and universal design (UD)? What is a possible new paradigm approach for an organization to integrate these concepts?
These questions will be explored in a mixed presentation and discussion format to address session objectives:
• Understand accessibility and universal design (UD) definitions
• Identify action steps to facilitate a paradigm shift in accessibility and universal design in connection with diversity equity and inclusion (DEI)
• Application of inclusive design and Inclusionary practices
Presenters will share definitions and how to develop common understanding around accessibility, UD and DEI within their organization. Content will include accessibility and UD efforts that include DEI integration and reduction of exclusionary accessibility-related practices. Presenters will share examples of strategies across industries (higher education, publishing, eCommerce, etc.) which work to unify UD, A11Y and DEI.
Presenters are subject matter experts in accessibility, universal design, strategic planning, and training facilitation with organizations in the private and educational sectors.
