Navigating Challenging Conversations with Partners
- Date & Time
-
Friday, March 17, 2023 - 10:20 AM PST
- Location
-
Orange County 3-4
- Description
-
When driving accessibility initiatives, leaders will encounter partners who push back. How we respond to this push-back can have drastically different effects on the outcome, ranging from wholesale rejection of accessibility to complete mindset shifts toward genuine disability inclusion. In this session, we’ll examine how to navigate challenging conversations with cross-functional partners in a range of scenarios to achieve the best outcomes for our teams, our products and services, and most importantly for the people who will use those products and services. We’ll cover topics such as setting clear expectations around non-negotiables, acknowledging others’ constraints and pressures with compassion, educating with personally meaningful insights, and framing accessibility in ways that align to a growth mindset. The presentation will include supporting slides if permitted by the event space, and all meaningful information in the talk (including information on slides) will be presented verbally as well.
