Description
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) coordinates discretionary grant programs funded under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and other federal initiatives. OSERS Program Specialists are content area experts who serve as project officers for a range of federal investments supporting children, students, and adults with disabilities. This session will be facilitated by project officers for OSERS-funded grants. The session will begin with updates regarding the Department’s and Office’s work including the work of currently funded projects in the Office of Special Education, the Rehabilitative Services Administration, and other offices and agencies. Specialists will discuss the Department of Education’s discretionary grant award process and will share updated information with implications for the field of technology as it relates to disability. Following the updates, specialists will facilitate a discussion encouraging participants to share ideas, concerns, and questions about grant making process along with ways in which OSERS and/or other national leaders can support stakeholders. Participants’ feedback will provide valuable insights to inform future funding and policy priorities and grant award processes. The session will conclude with strategies for the audience to continue engagement which will inform OSERS and other local, state, and federal offices.
