Together Again: AT for Travel and Inclusive Events
- Date & Time
- Friday, March 17, 2023 - 11:20 AM PST
- Location
- Platinum 6 (LIVESTREAM)
- Description
-
As the workforce returns to in-person events, employers are seeking a balance between onsite, remote, and hybrid training and development. This effort includes negotiation and openness to flexible and practical solutions.
Presenters will highlight scenarios addressing workplace barriers involving equipment and travel policies, accessibility issues surrounding software and assistive technologies, and inclusivity of events and trainings. Cost-benefit data will be provided when available. Accessible meetings, events, and training challenges can be seen in a variety of industries.
Event planners and employers can promote social inclusion by considering accessibility both of spaces, information, and work-related travel at the earliest planning stages. Inviting and responding to individual accommodation requests for AT can meet those needs not sufficiently addressed initially.
Implementing accommodations across meetings, trainings, and events requires understanding of the limitations, event environment, and accommodation options. Inclusive event planning promotes professional development, job growth, and networking, while fostering a welcoming environment to enhance a sense of community, increase engagement, and encourage attendance.
