Have you ever wondered what stands in the way of more small tech companies embracing accessibility? Are you in a position to advocate for digital accessibility but have heard excuses inside your organization for why accessibility isn’t a priority?

In this talk, I’ll get honest about the barriers I faced in pushing my small tech business to make accessibility progress. I’ll cover specifics about how we’ve addressed internal fear, uncertainty, and doubt about accessibility and found the time, money, and expertise it takes to get started. I’ll share how partnering with experts in university offices helped us build our knowledge and how embracing the community of accessibility activists has helped us maintain momentum and hold ourselves accountable. Finally, I’ll share how a journey of baby steps aligned everyone in our company around a shared vision for how we can grow our business and contribute to a more accessible web. Olark has a long way to go with accessibility. Still, I hope that getting vulnerable and sharing specifics will give you some ideas for how you can activate your interest and drive change inside your organization.
