This session will review some of the most common Eschenbach low vision aids used by students with vision loss. We will begin with a short review of the major types of eye diseases and conditions that can cause vision impairment. This will include a review of a number of eye conditions and how their impact on vision can be grouped into those that cause central field loss, peripheral field loss, contrast loss, or some combination of these. T
We will discuss the most common Eschenbach devices used by students with vision loss to maximize their remaining vision so they can succeed in the classroom, at work or at home. The magnification solutions to be presented include an assortment of hand-held and stand magnifiers, telescopes, spectacle magnifiers as well as video magnifiers. For each product, key features that can be of particular help to those with low vision will be discussed and the benefits that these features provide end users in helping them perform activities of daily living will be described. Tips for using hand-held and desktop video magnifiers will be covered.
