Accessible Formats: Why Your Customers Should Have A Choice

Date & Time
Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 9:20 AM PST
Location
Platinum 4 (CRAWFORD TECHNOLOGIES)
Description
People often ask why they should tag PDF files when so many other accessible formats are available. Conversely, people also ask why traditional formats (such as braille and large print) should be available if PDF files can be made accessible to all customers. Come and join us for a discussion on the benefits and drawbacks of Accessible PDF and other alternate formats. We’ll look at the differences between these formats and we’ll demonstrate the reasons that document accessibility does not have a “one size fits all” solution. In addition, we will walk participants through the history of the PDF format and discuss why it has become so prevalent. We’ll also highlight how organizations are working to manage their backlogs and archived data, while ensuring that they provide accessible information to customers who require it. Finally, we will cover topics such as demographics and assistive technology use, which help to explain the need to offer customer communications in a variety of accessible formats.
