Continuing our tradition of excellent arts integration training, The Soraya is bringing together the fantastic LA-based Chicano band, Las Cafeteras, and experts from CSUN’s Eisner College of Education. Together, we will explore how the arts can heal, inform, and inspire as well as enhancing curriculum and enlivening the classroom. The event will be on two separate days, with one day for Elementary educators on Thursday, July 29, and the other day for Middle/High School educators on Friday, July 30.

Las Cafeteras (July 29):

“Tia Leah’s Neighborhood”: educators will be introduced to a BRAND NEW educational program that “celebrates diversity and community by combining a colorful variety of dance, music and storytelling to help kids think about how each of us impacts the world.”

Las Cafeteras (July 30):

Las Cafeteras has a long tradition of rich educational programming that delves into the musical, social, and historical roots of the local Chicana/o culture. Band members will share personal success stories, their songwriting process, and how one can continue to be socially active in the ever-emerging Latinx community of Los Angeles.
