CSUN is hosting the California Court of Appeal
October 4, 2019
The Department of Criminology and Justice Studies is hosting a special session of the California Court of Appeal to be held here at the CSUN campus for the benefit of our students and campus community on Wednesday, October 16, from 10:00 am -12:00 noon at the Plaza del Sol auditorium at the USU. The doors will open at 9:00 am.
The Court of Appeal will be hearing arguments in three cases on October 16. The first will be a Proposition 57 criminal case in which the non-violent crime criteria for correctional realignment (i.e. movement from state to county correctional facilities) will be addressed. The second is a civil case challenging actions taken in the face of police misconduct. The third is a civil case that addresses the conflict between state and county authority to create, define, and manage political committees and other working groups in county-level government in Los Angeles.
Please be aware that the Court will not allow cell phones, smart watches, or bags of any kind (including purses) into the auditorium. Pen/pencil and paper are allowed. A metal detector will be used for screening.
