Recognizing outstanding alumni is one way the Alumni Association shows its commitment to showcasing the impact of CSUN on the personal and professional lives of its graduates and the community in which it serves. Each year at the Founders' Celebration, CSUN honors the legacy of achievement of the graduates of the 50th Anniversary class and faculty and staff who started their careers at San Fernando Valley State College during the same era. In October 2020, the Virtual Founders' Celebration will celebrate the Class of 1970 with a virtual reunion and 50-year club pinning ceremony. Established in 2002 to recognize alumni, faculty and friends of the university who have consistently demonstrated extraordinary commitment, dedication and service for the advancement of the institution, CSUN is proud to acknowledge these hard working and deserving individuals annually at the Volunteer Service Awards.
