Research Shows The ‘Intervention’ That Helps AI Boost Customer Outcomes

Three researchers from California State University, Northridge, and the University of Maine, Orono, published a study investigating the impact of chatbots on customer outcomes. Dongling Huang, Dmitri G. Markovitch, and Rusty A. Stough found that while customers still prefer human service in some contexts, there is another way to achieve just as good results: an approach that combines chatbot service “with a light touch human intervention.” -- Forbes Magazine

Don’t be surprised if you bump into Doug Emhoff getting a cup of coffee in L.A.

Emhoff was born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey, but he moved to Southern California in the early ’80s when he was only 17. He graduated soon after from Agoura High School and then got a degree from California State University, Northridge—“so I do consider myself a true 818’er, it’s in my blood.” Though he was hanging out in the area at a time he compares to Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Emhoff never picked up a Valley inflection, but he does occasionally slip into the remnants of a New Jersey accent when he’s around his mutha, as he animatedly tells me. -- Time Out

Project 2025 and the reversal of decades of social progress

“[Project 2025] represents a structural shift in governmental policy for the 21st century,”said Dr. David L. Horne, a professor of Africana Studies at Cal State Northridge and executive director of the Pan African Public Policy and Ethical Institute. “It represents a radical reshaping of the federal government and would severely restrict the U.S. government’s footprint in social reform and support a radical shift to supporting economic projects not concerned with, for instance, saving the environment, easing poverty or any interference with the aims and procedures of big business and finance.” -- Our Weekly Los Angeles
