Billboard’s 2022 Top Music Business Schools Revealed

California State University, Northridge Los Angeles While copyright, publishing, licensing and recording contracts are among the industry topics explored in the classroom, the Music Industry Studies program at CSUN prides itself on experiential learning and entrepreneurship. Students receive experience through Vove, a student-run record label for which they select, record, promote and manage an “artist of the year,” including arranging live performances and assisting with copyright and performing rights registration. Under the school’s internship requirement, all attendees must earn four credits working in a sector of the music business, from publishing to labels to live events. -- Yahoo! Entertainment

Steve O’Connell is president and chief executive officer of North Island Credit Union. Under his leadership for the past 10 years, North Island has achieved outstanding financial performance and introduced numerous innovations to achieve significant transformation, growth, and member service enhancements across every area of operations. Under his guidance, North Island’s 2021 financial performance was stronger than most peers in its industry. He serves as board member of the San Diego’s Classroom of the Future Foundation, an organization that bridges technology gaps for at-risk youth and provides school funding through private industry. Through his direction, North Island Credit Union contributed more than $600,000 in 2021 to assist hundreds of local schools, educators, military families, and community-based programs. Over the past five years under O’Connell’s leadership North Island has invested over $2 million in local communities, awarded $145,000 in 290 teacher grants, and provided $355,000 in college scholarships. North Island has new partnerships with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Diego to support multiple programs. He is a graduate of Cal State Northridge. -- San Diego Metro Magazine

Martinez, 49, is a product of the San Fernando Valley: She graduated from San Fernando High School and Cal State Northridge. SERJ TANKIAN Shares Music Visualizer Video For 'The Race'

On April 29 of next year, fans of Tankian will also be treated to a unique concert with the debut of "Invocations" at The Soraya in Northridge. Composed and performed by Serj, these new works are symphonic, operatic, emotive and will bring the CSUN Symphony, ethnic instrumentalists and a variety of diverse vocalists, including Tankian, together on stage with a choir for this very special evening of live musical performance. -- Blabbermouth

CSUN is hosting BikeFest, a family event, on October 23rd. Join us for a day of fun with tons of giveaways, vendors, safety and skill demonstrations, music, food trucks, job fair and even an outdoor spin class! She has also performed regularly with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the period instrument ensemble Tesserae, and she teaches courses through the music department at UCLA and CSU Northridge.
