Kariné Poghosyan brilliantly introduces Folk Themes at Carnegie Hall

Poghosyan was accepted into the Yerevan Conservatory, but she and her parents immigrated to the US before she could start. She credits her drive and strength to watching her parents experience the difficulties of immigration and working hard to build a life in a new country. Poghosyan received her bachelor’s degree from California State University in Northridge. She was encouraged to explore the east coast for her master’s degree. She auditioned and was accepted into the program at the Manhattan School of Music. She received her doctorate and specialized in the music of Khatchaturian for solo piano. -- Armenian Weekly

After Three-Year Hiatus, St. Francis Dam Tour Returns

Ann Stansell is a Director of the SCV Historical Society and of the St. Francis Dam National Memorial Foundation. She is also an Associate State Archaeologist at California State Parks, and Co-director of CSUN’s Forgotten Casualties Project. Ann authored her master’s thesis for an archeology degree at Cal State Northridge in 2014, in which she came up with the most accurate list to date of the casualties of the St. Francis Dam Disaster. -- SCV News

Last year’s best new artist victor was Olivia Rodrigo, who announced Joy’s win on Sunday’s show. Joy is scheduled to perform Saturday at the Soraya performing arts center at Cal State Northridge. -- Los Angeles Times

Through its K-14 GoPass Program and the U-Pass Program available at CSUN, over 40,000 Valley students are getting free/discounted access to the system.
