Scott Brewer is new Oxnard Emergency Services Director
Scott received his B.S. from California State University, Northridge and holds advanced certifications in Urban Search & Rescue, Hazardous Material Operations, Counter-terrorism, and Weapons of Mass Destruction Response. He is a CERT instructor, licensed EMT, and instructor at California’s Specialized Training Institute. Scott is also a Reserve Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, where he serves as a patrol officer and Reserve Academy Instructor. -- Citizens Journal

Debunking the aurora myth: What actually causes an aurora?
—Kristine Romich interned in the Heliophysics division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in the summer of 2017. Her research investigated the heating of the solar corona. While at Goddard, she also began volunteering with the Aurorasaurus citizen-science project as a guest blogger. Kristine earned her A.S. degree from the City Colleges of Chicago in 2016 and will continue her studies in physics at California State University – Northridge this fall. -- Got Science
