The steps Cal State is taking to try to rebuild after two scandals

Jolene Koester, the former President at Cal State Northridge from 2000-2011 and a stalwart on the boards of organizations affiliated with higher education, was named as interim leader of the system and its 23 institutions. She will start on May 1 and serve for one year while the Board searches for a permanent replacement. -- University Business

Community Mourns Younes Nazarian

Younes and his wife of more than six decades, Soraya, were devoted to educating others about Israel. The couple’s philanthropic endeavors were considerable, and included The Younes & Soraya Nazarian Family Foundation and The Ima Foundation in the US and Israel, respectively. Both are dedicated to promoting education. Other institutions bearing the Nazarian name include the Younes & Soraya Nazarian Center for Israel Studies at UCLA, the Younes & Soraya Nazarian Center for Performing Arts at CSUN and the Nazarian Pavilion in the historic Doheny Library at USC. -- Beverly Hills Courier

Une “capsule de lactation” pour préserver l’intimité des jeunes mamans

L’idée de la California State University à Northridge est de proposer un lieu sûr et confortable pour que les mamans puissent allaiter leurs enfants, ou tirer leur lait, à l’abri des regards désobligeants. La capsule de lactation a été inaugurée le 28 mars dernier dans l’une des ailes du campus. Cassidy Butow, coordinatrice administrative de l’Institut pour la santé et le bien-être communautaires du CSUN a déclaré : “Il est important que tout le monde ait un espace sûr pour tirer son lait sans se soucier de l’intimité, de sa propreté ou de devoir utiliser les toilettes pour tirer le lait“. -- Neozone
