Lon Kruger was the coach — and the person — that Oklahoma basketball needed

One year after another, Kruger simply made the best of the hand he was dealt in Norman. He kept Trae Young home, outflanking a myriad of blue-blood programs to sign the Norman native. He turned an unheralded shooting guard named Austin Reaves into a dynamic ball handler and a legitimate NBA prospect. He hit the transfer portal to snag a nobody from CSU-Northridge, only to immediately show the nation that Elijah Harkless was perhaps the best defender in the collegiate game. --247Sports.com

UC SANTA BARBARA WOMEN’S WATER POLO CONTINUES BIG WEST CAMPAIGN AT UC SAN DIEGO

With the victory of UC Davis this past weekend, the Gauchos have now won their Big West Conference opener in each of the past three seasons, all three times at home. In 2019, UCSB took down UC Irvine 6-5 thanks to a pair of goals from both Sarah Snyder and Kate Pipkin. Last season, UCSB defeated CSUN 9-8 in overtime thanks in no small part to an Amanda Legaspi hat trick and a Sarah Snyder game winner in what was ultimately the final game before the 2020 season was stopped and eventually canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. -- SwimSwam
