Career Opportunities in Marketing

 

The marketing major prepares students for careers in:

Advertising Title

Working for Advertising Agencies or an Advertising Department in manufacturing, wholesaling, or retailing organizations represent opportunities in this field.

Marketing Management

This involves employment for students interested in managing a wide range of marketing responsibilities. In manufacturing firms, job titles such as Product Manager and Brand Manager are typical after appropriate job experience.

Marketing Research

Graduates interested in this area have numerous types of opportunities: market research firms, manufacturing or retailing company research departments, advertising agency research departments, and government agencies.

Retailing

Retailing is a major ares of Marketing and many job opportunities are found in this field. Careers are management oriented, not clerk oriented. Medium to large size businesses offer opportunities for qualified individuals in department stores, mass merchandising and the like. Store/chain buyers, merchandise managers, and divisional managers are examples of retail jobs to which one can aspire.

Sales & Sales Management

After suitable on-the-job training and experience, many who elect this career path will move into sales management. District Managers, Territory Managers, Regional Managers, Sales Supervisors, Sales Training Directors, National Sales Managers, and Vice President-Sales are examples.

International Marketing

Today we talk about "World Firms" and "Multi-National Firms" and these new kinds of businesses offer major opportunities for marketing graduates. Manufacturing firms and import-export firms all represent job potentials.

Supply Chain Management

The Supply Chain Management option prepares our students for every area of supply chain activity needed. Job opportunities are anticipated to increase over the next decades. These include: sourcing and procurement, transportation, warehousing, materials handling, order processing and customer value analysis, technology design and application, and demand planning and distribution.
