American,
Korean or Both?
This site summarizes interviews by Crystal Chappell of other
Korean-American adoptees who struggle with their identity of being
Korean, American or both. These adoptees feel lost in a society
that either wants them to be Asian or to be American. If the
adoptees say that they are American, they struggle with their
physical features. If the adopotees say that they are Korean, they
struggle with their non-Asian last names and their lack of
knowledge of Korean culture. They often feel that they are stuck
between two cultures and can't go one way or the other. This site provides
a link to the Korean American Adoptees Page.
