An Example of a Receptive Conceptual Task in the AUDITORY MODALITY:
This is an example of a RECEPTIVE CONCEPTUAL(as opposed to SYMBOLIC) task in the Auditory Modality. Please note that the instructions must be given prior to testing the child or adult. This is done through pantomime and/or by simple modeling. This is necessary, of course, because we do not know before we test what the child's ability is to understand langauge.
The first task is to have the person listen to a sound.
The second task is have the person raise a finger when he/she hears the sound again.
(Please allow around 30 seconds for the Example audio files to download)
(and please don't forget to hit the BACK button on your Browser when the sound is finished.
Task 1
Listen to this sound...
Task 2
Raise your finger when you hear the sound again...
