An Example of an Inner Conceptual Task in the VISUAL MODALITY:
This is an example of a INNER CONCEPTUAL task in the Visual Modality. Please note that the instructions must be given prior to testing the child or adult. This is done through pantomime and/or by simple modeling. This is necessary, of course, because we do not know before we test what the child's ability is to understand langauge.
There are three examples. One is EASY, the second is HARD; and the third is VERY HARD!
For the first two, the task is the same. For the third task there is a slight difference. (Please note that these examples are actual tasks [called Visual Association] used in the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Ability (ITPA).
For the first two examples.
The Task: Look at the picture in the middle...and then find another object that belongs with the picture in the middle..
For the third example.
The Task: Look at the relationship of the two pictures to the left and then find the picture that has a similar relationship to the picture in the middle.
The Easy Example

Task: Look at this picture in the middle... and then find another object that belongs with the picture in the middle.
