The Generalization Process

Some names represent more than one pattern.

We can recognize things we have never seen before by their common bonds.

There is more than one way to generalize.

Syncretistic generalization is no better than selecting groups by random.

Complex Generalization uses bonds but they change for each member of the category.

A Chain Complex explanation of Why are Fire-Engines are Red.

Chain Complex generalization strategy is not useful for communication nor understanding the world.

An Associative Complex strategy has a central theme but the bonds still change for each member.

A pseudo concept appears to have validity, sometimes.

A Scotsman is the exception that disproves the Pseudo Concept.

Adults have pseudo concepts that can have unfortunate consequences.

A Full Concept has many sets of bonds that are common to all members of the category.

Adult-child interaction is the super-tool for the development of concepts.
