ASSESSMENT

Track 1 | Track 2

The Track 1 program will be monitored by:

FORMATIVE MONITORING AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES
Track 1 Program. Because this is a year-round program, if the data show problems in any program area, immediate intervention will occur to make improvements. For example, if staff find that specific teachers are having trouble in their practice sessions, in the classroom or during in-service workshops, those teachers will receive special added training and tutoring. If an individual teacher is found to do poorly on the content post-tests, that teacher will be tutored by staff in the areas of weakness. Formative monitoring results will be discussed with the Eisenhower Advisory Committee to help develop any needed intervention strategies.

FORMATIVE MONITORING AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES

In the Track 2 Program, staff will consult with the scientist mentors and teachers to iron out any difficulties reported. Project staff will monitor student research by examining student notebooks provided at regular intervals by the teachers, and staff will visit classes while students are engaged in research on a regular basis. If problems are encountered where teachers are having difficulty in some aspect of student research training, staff will provide individual assistance to resolve the problems.

Like the formative monitoring of the Track 1 program cited above, formative monitoring results in the Track 2 program will be discussed at Eisenhower Advisory Committee meetings to help develop any needed intervention strategies.
