The three major Anglo-Saxon kingdoms were Northumbria (north and east of England), Mercia (central England), and Wessex (southwest England).

The areas of Strathclyde and Cumbria (southwest Scotland, northwest England), Wales, and Cornwall were under Celtic rule.
