Welcome |

Hi there. Yes your browser is working correctly
(if you're using Netscape, that is). Let me
describe what you see. The large letters are
written in something we like to refer to as gold
electrodes. They are typically a few hundred
nanometers wide and a couple of microns long. We
use these electrodes to study electric transport
properties of
carbon nanotubes. These are long molecules and
for artistic reasons often displayed as being blue.
This is the funny long thing lying on the left hand
side of the page. The all over picture is sth known
as an atomic force micrograph. We obtain pictures
like these by scanning a sharp tip over a surface
and recording the height, much like a record player
used to do ...
So what does it have to do with me ? Well, I'm
involved in measurements on these molecules for the
PhD work here at TUDelft in the Netherlands. I'm a
member of the Molecular Biophysics group at the
department of Applied Sciences. When not working on
the fridge or AFM, I do other stuff, e.g. while listening to music (updated on July
21, 1999). Also have a look at some prime numbers. Also have a look
at a nice mathematical fact: the ratio between consecutive
Fibonacci numbers equals the golden ratio. When somebody
told me this, I did a fast calculation, you can find
the results here. It's not
particularly esotheric or state of the art mathematics
(freshmen level), but still a funny fact. Bye for
now

The research I'm involved - and by definition
interested - in is the electronic transport
properties of Carbon Nanotubes. ( See also the
layout of this page, made in an outburst of
artistic ideas. Hard work getting all the pictures
right and making it valid
HTML 4.0 as well as
CSS too ... ) An up to date overview of the
recent Delft experiments on Carbon Nanotubes can be
found at this page.
