Many of the people making the decisions, to MOO or not to MOO, are not Geeks. We set out to explain the server side needs for a MOO. What kind of computer, what software, what level of expertise. In addition, we wanted to forewarn those who would like a MOO of their own, of a few of the generic pitfalls they might encounter. We wanted people to know up front what kind of care and feeding a MOO and its server would need. We wanted to de-mystify what it would take to intelligently plan a MOO so that it would still be functioning smoothly with little lag after more than just a few months.
