What is a “running record” and how does it differ from the test of contextual decoding used in the QRI-3?
How are running records used to identify reading strengths and weaknesses in students?
Notes:
Use strategies employed with a miscue analysis while student is reading selections in the classroom. Running records can be undertaken with any stories without preparation, thus a teacher can examine a student’s reading behaviors more frequently , thus having a thorough and ongoing observation record.
If planning to take a running record select passages of 100-200 words, may select one hard passage, one read with some help, and one easy passage.
