Description:
This day long excursion into the field will examine the work of the
Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary as a federal resource management
agency responsible for implementing marine conservation policy in California's
Channel Islands area. We will have an opportunity to meet with agency
staff, travel into the resource, and visit one of the Islands. We
may also have a chance to see marine mammals, sea birds, and other wildlife.
Objectives of the day: to give context to our discussions of environmental policy and resource management; to introduce students to the marine environment; and to introduce students to the work of public agencies and their staffs.
This program is generously underwritten by the Channel Island National Marine Sanctuary
