Dear CSUN Community,
As you may recall, CSUN participated in the California State University (CSU) system-wide assessment of the Title IX and Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Programs to learn about our communities’ experiences and to identify opportunities to strengthen our Title IX and anti-discrimination programs and processes in alignment with our values and in our commitment to a culture of care and compliance.
At the CSU Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, the Cozen O’Connor Institutional Response Group, the organization commissioned to conduct the assessment, presented their preliminary observations and recommendations. A recording of their presentation may be found here.
Their final report, inclusive of campus-specific observations and recommendations, is expected to be released in June.
Recognizing that the timing of the release of the report is not ideal as it falls outside of the academic year, we will distribute it to our community as soon as we receive it. To ensure we continue to foster a safe and welcoming campus environment for all, the work of implementing the recommendations will begin immediately and our commitment to ongoing communication and engagement with our campus community will remain.
A campus implementation team has been convened to formally receive and implement the recommendations on our collective behalf. In alignment with Chancellor’s Office guidance, this group includes a faculty, staff and student representative as well as subject matter leaders. Accordingly, the following individuals have agreed to serve in this role:
- Dr. Genevieve Evans Taylor, Chief of Staff
- Barrett Morris, Title IX Coordinator
- Dr. Michael Neubauer, Faculty Senate President
- Paige Hajiloo, Associated Students President-elect
- Hai-Ling Tang, CSUEU President and Staff Representative
- Alexandra Lohman, Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Administrator
- Kristina de la Vega, AVP of HR
- Dr. Diane Guido, AVP of Faculty Affairs
- Dr. Zeina Otaky-Ramirez, Asst Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct and Ethical Development
We are grateful for the leadership of the implementation team and your ongoing partnership as we work together to ensure we advance an academic community that is firmly rooted in our shared values.
Sincerely,
ERIKA D. BECK, PH.D. President California State University, Northridge 18111 Nordhoff Street Northridge, CA 91330-8230 (818) 677-2121 president.beck@csun.edu
