Covid-19 Response Team

Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a joyful and restorative winter break and are eager to experience all the wonders of the coming year.

In advance of the start of the spring semester, we would like to share with you updates to our COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Maintaining the health and safety of our community continues as a top priority, so all protocols and recommendations remain in place with changes to the following:

  • COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Los Angeles County continue to evolve. However, with high vaccination and booster rates among the campus community, the Daily Health Screening is no longer a requirement for employees, students or visitors when coming to campus. This change takes effect on January 13, 2023. All individuals are encouraged to self-monitor their symptoms and remain home if sick.
  • CSUN will continue to provide rapid tests to employees who are identified as a close contact by the university or who need to test in order to leave isolation/quarantine. For all other instances, employees are encouraged to access the many free testing options available in Los Angeles County.
  • The COVID-19 2022 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (CA SB 114) ended on December 31, 2022. Should you need assistance with leave options, please contact your benefits representative.
  • CSUN will continue to track reported COVID-19 cases among members of our campus community, including students, faculty and staff. Contact tracing has been streamlined to an e-intake process expediting e-mail responses from contact tracers rather than phone calls.

CSUN will continue to follow Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines and CalOSHA regulations as we progress through the semester. Any changes to the COVID-19 protocols will be communicated to the campus community and will be available on the COVID-19 Information website.

As always, thank you for doing your part to maintain the health and safety of the CSUN community.

Wishing you a wonderful 2023,

Meera Komarraju, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
William Watkins, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
Colin Donahue, Vice President for Administration and Finance & CFO
