Spring Intramural Sports at the SRC Offer Matadors Fun and Friendly Competition

Northridge- The Student Recreation Center (SRC) at the University Student Union (USU) challenges all students, faculty and staff to get in the game by competing in Intramural Sports this Spring 2017 semester.  It’s a great opportunity to compete with your friends and build camaraderie with other Matadors while taking part in your choice of sports. Everyone in the CSUN community can sign up today through either IMLeagues or the Rec It App. You can register as a team or join as a free agent starting Monday, Jan. 9.

“Intramurals are perfect for anyone looking for a fun and friendly competitive outlet,” said Devin Aja Barnett, Coordinator of Intramural Sports, “The SRC provides a safe environment for everyone to compete and let’s you choose which sport to participate in.” 

The Intramural sports available this semester include 5v5 basketball, flag football, softball, outdoor soccer, 6v6 volleyball and dodge ball. Participants can also try out a one-day intramural tournament, including the CSUN Basketball Classic on Saturday, February 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sand volleyball on Wednesday, March 15 from 12 to 4 p.m.

To participate in Intramurals, students pay an affordable semester-long fee of $7 and faculty and staff will pay $12. All games will be held in the SRC and spectators are welcome to attend and cheer on their fellow Matadors. Winners in each sport will be awarded an SRC intramural championship shirt for their victory in the program. Each participant will also vote for who their team MVP is at the end of each tournament and the teammate with the most votes will win a pair of MVP SRC Matador socks.
