Faculty Collective-Virginia Huynh

Virginia HuynhVirginia Huynh is a professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Development. She has two lines of research. The first focuses on understanding the types of everyday stressors that youth face, such as ethnic discrimination. The second focuses on the academic adjustment and mental and physical health of underrepresented populations—primarily ethnic minority and immigrant youth. Currently, Dr. Huynh is examining the how ethnic discrimination affects adolescent sleep and whether discrimination from peers and adults can explain ethnic disparities in college persistence. Students who work with Dr. Huynh will begin by completing literature reviews, learning data entry, coding, and analyses. Students will also contribute to proposals for grants and human subjects review and will present at professional conferences.
